'Agreement struck' amid Everton and Ipswich Town talks for £15m Aston Villa academy product

Everton and Ipswich Town have reportedly struck agreements with Hull City over the signing of former Aston Villa star Jaden Philogene.
The two Premier League teams are battling hard to acquire the winger’s services, offering differing terms but both seeing bids accepted. It’s now up to the player, who would earn Villa a sizeable windfall if he does indeed depart Hull.

Hide AdMail Sport reports Everton have an “agreement in place” with Hull and are awaiting the go-ahead from Philogene himself. Ipswich, meanwhile, have seen an offer of £35 million accepted to sign both Philogene and defender Jacob Greaves in a double deal.
It awaits to be seen how the terms of the Ipswich swoop would change if Philogene chooses Everton instead. The saga is expected to develop very quickly and other teams could yet join the fight as the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Crystal Palace hold a serious interest.
Philogene enjoyed a terrific 2023/24 season as he scored 12 goals and made six assists in 32 Championship appearances. Before that, the former Villan netted four goals and registered one assist in 37 English second-tier matches on loan at Cardiff City.
Aston Villa to benefit from Philogene transfer
Eyebrows were certainly raised when the four-time England Under-21 international was allowed to depart Villa Park for just £5 million last September, especially as he looked so impressive in pre-season. It’s understood there’s a sell-on fee included, though, so yet more funds could yet be raised.

Villa had first refusal to re-sign Philogene for £15 million if Hull entered the same division, but the Tigers’ failure to be promoted to the Premier League means that clause cannot be activated. Nonetheless, around 15 per cent of any sale to different clubs will head straight into Villa’s pockets.
