Roberto De Zerbi eyeing surprise Wolves swoop as Newcastle United deal collapses
Wolverhampton Wanderers attacker Hwang Hee-Chan is reportedly a summer transfer target for Marseille, recently taken over by former Brighton & Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi.
The South Korean forward has just enjoyed his most productive season in England to date, scoring 12 goals and making three assists in 29 Premier League matches. Hwang displayed vast improvement from the campaign before, when he netted just three times in 27 appearances.

Hide AdFrench publication L’Equipe reports Marseille have been impressed by Hwang’s progress and have added the attacker to their shortlist. The 28-year-old, mightily popular among the Wolves fanbase, is being considered as an alternative to Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood.
It’s stated that no direct club-to-club talks have begun just yet but an approach is being weighed up. The delay is thought to be around concerns over Wolves’ asking price as Hwang’s current contract still has four years left to run.
De Zerbi has a tough job on his hands as Marseille had a disappointing eighth-placed finish in Ligue 1 last term. Three points outside the European places, Les Phoceens fell behind Lens, Olympique Lyonnais, OGN Nice, LOSC Lille, Brest, AS Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain. Signing Hwang could help turn the tide.
Newcastle United and Everton talks break down
In other Premier League transfer news, Newcastle United’s proposed move for Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has fallen through. The Telegraph reports the Magpies have given up their pursuit after failing to sell their own striker, Callum Wilson, before the June 30 PSR deadline.

Newcastle believed they could get the best out of Calvert-Lewin again but the latest update suggests the attacker will remain at Goodison Park.
