Aston Villa receive Nottingham Forest approach as Wolves eye £8m bargain

Yet another Aston Villa transfer could soon be underway as Nottingham Forest have reportedly made contact to sign defensive midfielder Lamare Bogarde.

The Villans are already one of the most active Premier League teams in the summer market, with several signings and sales considered agreed and imminent. The chaotic start to the window is set to continue as recent loan returnee Bogarde is gaining interest.

Transfer news journalist Fabrizio Romano reports Forest have approached Villa to open talks for Bogarde in a deal that could be worth around €4 million (£3.4 million). The final say is said to be with the player as it would be a downward step but one that could increase his chances of a breakthrough.

Bogarde has been steadily progressing through Villa’s youth ranks since being signed from Feyenoord for an undisclosed fee in 2020. The 20-year-old has just returned from a season and a half on loan at League One side Bristol Rovers, whom he played 36 times for across all competitions.

Capable of playing as a defensive midfielder, centre-back or right-back, Bogarde has the potential to be a decent utility option for Forest. With just one senior Villa appearance to his name so far, the Dutchman is unlikely to be in Unai Emery’s plans, especially as his sale will contribute to meeting the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations (PSR).

Wolves eye Kilman replacement

In other Premier League transfer news, Villa’s local rivals Wolves are reportedly considering a move for Borussia Monchengladbach centre-back Nico Elvedi. The Old Gold are weighing up their options as captain Maximilian Kilman is the subject of bids from Newcastle United and West Ham United.

The Magpies offered midfielder Elliot Anderson plus cash, while the Hammers coughed up a straight £25 million fee. Wolves, reluctant to sell one of their star players and leaders, are holding out for around £45 million to sell.

GIVEMESPORT reports Wolves have been keeping tabs on Gladbach defender Elvedi in anticipation of interest growing for Kilman. The 27-year-old is currently at the UEFA European Championships in Germany, representing Group A runners-up Switzerland.

Elvedi, who has 53 senior caps to his name, has been a reliable option at the heart of Gladbach’s defence in the Bundesliga for eight successive seasons. He was a target for Chelsea in the January transfer window and is reported to be available for a bargain fee of just £8 million.
