Aston Villa begin shock €29.7m Liverpool hijack as Unai Emery inflicts Chelsea blow

The latest as Aston Villa attempt a bold £60m double swoop for Liverpool and Chelsea targets.

Liverpool have been in talks to acquire Huijsen’s services but the Villans are eager to spoil the party, already making contact to try and sign the 19-year-old.

Adeyemi, meanwhile, has been linked with Chelsea and Juventus but Villa are now said to be considering a swoop after a £35 million asking price was revealed.

Fabrizio Romano reported on Wednesday that AFC Bournemouth and VfB Stuttgart are pushing to sign Huijsen but Villa are working away in the background. Negotiations have been underway over a €29.7 million (£25 million) transfer away, though the destination hasn’t been decided yet.

The Daily Mail has since reported that Villa are interested in signing Adeyemi and are monitoring his developments at Dortmund. The recent €60 million (£50.5 million) sale of Moussa Diaby to Al-Ittihad means Unai Emery’s side have had an influx of funds to work with.

Adeyemi, a skilful and pacy forward, has scored just 14 goals in 66 appearances for Dortmund over the past two years, but he was one of the stand-out performers in the recent UEFA Champions League final against Real Madrid. Still just 22, he has the potential to become a top player.

Huijsen, on the other hand, enjoyed a breakthrough six months on loan at AS Roma from Juventus during the second half of last season. The central defender, born in Amsterdam but a two-time Spain Under-21 international, has played 14 times in Serie A and scored two goals.
