'Done deal' - Aston Villa and Arsenal strike £1m transfer agreement following contract snub

Unai Emery’s side are reportedly set to complete the acquisition of promising young Arsenal goalkeeper Owen Asemota after a compensation fee was agreed.
The 16-year-old, already a member of the England youth setup, made three appearances for Arsenal Under-18 last season. Asemota’s best display came against Villa as he saved a penalty.

Hide AdNow, a few months on, the Villans are set to nab Asemota from Arsenal’s Hale End academy. Journalist Jeorge Bird, who specialises in coverage of the Gunners’ youth squads, reports a full agreement is in place for Asemota to join Villa.
It’s stated the teenager recently turned down a scholarship offer from Arsenal in order to make the move to the West Midlands. Fellow goalkeepers Khari Ranson and Jack Porter, meanwhile, opted to remain in north London.
Due to Asemota’s age, a compensation fee had to be agreed for any potential suitor looking to acquire his services. It’s claimed Villa and Arsenal have found a compromise, with £1 million to be paid to cover training costs and more over the past few years.
All that awaits for the deal to be finalised is the completion of the ‘five step process’ that every club must go through to sign an academy player. If all goes to plan, Asemota will officially sign for Villa by the end of this week.
