Wolves challenging Leicester City and Nottingham Forest for £10m wantaway Premier League star

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly one of several clubs interested in signing Crystal Palace goalkeeper Sam Johnstone this summer.
The Athletic reports the four-time England international has asked to leave Selhurst Park and been granted his wish, as long as a substantial enough proposal arrives. Johnstone is eager to gain more consistent game time assurances elsewhere and Palace are willing to let him go for £10 million.

Hide AdIt’s claimed that Wolves, Leicester City, Nottingham Forest and Southampton have all registered an interest ahead of potential swoops. Johnstone informed Palace of his decision during their pre-season tour of the United States.
Head coach Oliver Glasner has indicated that Johnstone would not be the first choice between the sticks in south London, with former Manchester United man Dean Henderson the preferred shotstopper.
Johnstone, who joined Palace from West Bromwich Albion two years ago on a free transfer, still has three years left on his current contract after signing an extension last year.
An elbow injury at the tail end of last season recently stumped his progress but he remains a top ‘keeper on the fringes of the England squad. Johnstone hopes that regaining a starting status elsewhere will give him the chance to make it back into the international setup.

Wanderers are weighing up a move for Johnstone but are also interested in Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, who last campaign became the backup to David Raya. The Mirror reports Wolves are considering using Daniel Bentley, who the Gunners are interested in, as a makeweight to strike a deal.

TalkSPORT reports, meanwhile, that Gary O’Neil’s side will listen to offers for Jose Sa, the current number one at Molineux. A replacement will need to be signed first - possibly Johnstone or Ramsdale - but Wolves are definitely open to letting Sa depart.
