‘Necessary’ Wolves sale tipped to kick-start Man City and Aston Villa domino effect
The Old Gold are expected to endure another transfer window of frustration if funds aren’t raised this summer, with Gary O’Neil desperate to add depth but unable to do so with the current financial situation.
Wolves’ shallow squad caused several selection headaches during the second half of the season just gone as O’Neil often had to use players out of position. The attack was ravaged by injuries, forcing youngsters and inexperienced fringe players straight in at the deep end against the Premier League’s elite.

Hide AdPedro Neto has been listed as a potential sacrifice as Wanderers could earn around £60 million from a sale, as per The Telegraph. It’s claimed Man City and Newcastle United are interested and considering approaches, giving Wolves a potential route out of their troubles.
It would be tough to see Neto depart - especially as he was Wolves’ best creator last term with nine assists in 20 Premier League matches - but it’s probably a necessity at this stage. Such significant funds won’t be raised out of thin air, so a star player will inevitably have to be surrendered.
Pedro Neto sale could spark Jack Grealish domino effect
Man City signing Neto could open up a stunning opportunity for Wolves’ local rivals, Aston Villa, to resign former favourite Jack Grealish. The Villans would also need to increase their transfer budget to make a deal happen but Grealish has been heavily linked with a romantic return to B6 over recent months.
Neto joining City’s ranks would make competition for places at Etihad Stadium even fiercer and Grealish is already out-of-sorts. Three goals in just 1,001 minutes of Premier League action in 2023/24 will go down as a failure for the £100 million man, whose chances of regaining a spot in England’s starting XI are wearing increasingly thinner.
