Police are appealing for footage after a football fan wearing an Aston Villa shirt allegedly threw a corner flag into the away end during Solihull Moors’ playoff semi-final against Chesterfield at the weekend.

Posting on Twitter, the official police account relating to Chestefield Football Club’s matches - Spireites Police - revealed details of the incident which took place at Solihull’s home ground Damson Park.

A tweet from Spireites Police following Moors’ 3-1 over Chesterfield on Sunday (29 May), read: “Anyone with any footage of the male in the Villa shirt who decided to launch the corner flag into the away end following the game, please send me the footage.”

West Midlands Police have been contacted for comment regarding the incident.
