Data experts predict surprise Championship finishes for Birmingham City, Sunderland, Preston North End, Middlesbrough and rivals

A new and surprising prediction for the final Sky Bet Championship table has emerged.

With the 2023/24 Sky Bet Championship season now over 70 percent of the way through, the tension is ramping up in key battles up and down the division.

Leicester City have charged away at the top of the standings but their shock 2-1 defeat at home to Middlesbrough has given hope to the chasing pack. Leeds United, Southampton and Ipswich Town are the three teams battling for the second automatic promotion spot, while the play-off battle behind that is just as fierce.

West Bromwich Albion appear to be the leading candidate for one of the final two top-six positions as they have a game in hand but things could change very quickly. Coventry City, Norwich City and Hull City are just one point behind the Baggies, while Preston North End and Sunderland are within reasonable reach.

Down to the relegation battle, Rotherham United are destined to return to Sky Bet League One but Sheffield Wednesday's 2-0 win at Millwall gives them a fighting chance. Danny Röhl's side are now only four points adrift from safety, putting Queens Park Rangers, Millwall, Huddersfield Town and Stoke City in the firing line.

As often is the case, the Championship can throw in more surprises at the end of the season than at any other stage. But what are the likeliest finishing positions for all 24 teams as it stands? Here's the latest table prediction, courtesy of Sky Bet.
