Sheffield United v Aston Villa team news - 11 out and two doubts

Latest injury and team news ahead of Sheffield United v Aston Villa in the Premier League - including an update on Ivo Grbic.

Sheffield United and Aston Villa put Deadline Day behind them as they clash at Bramall Lane in the late kick-off in the Premier League on Saturday.

The winter transfer window has shut and both teams did some business on the final day. The hosts signed Mason Holgate on loan from Everton having spent the first part of the 2023/24 campaign at Southampton. As for Villa they were fairly busy as they signed three new players however only one will immediately come in to the reckoning. Morgan Rogers a long-term target is in line to play after completing a £15m move from Middlesbrough. Goalkeeper Joe Gauci joined from Adelaide United but he's at the Asia Cup with Australia whilst Lino Sousa was signed from Arsenal but was immediately loaned out to Championship outfit Plymouth Argyle.

Both sides were in action in midweek and suffered the same fate which was a defeat. January signing Ben Brereton-Diaz opened the scoring but Ebrechi Eze put Crystal Palace in front after James McAtee had restored their elad but Michael Olise secured the win for the South London side.

In Villa's case it was a frustrating night at Villa Park as Newcastle United won 3-1 with Fabian Schar scoring twice in a four-minute spell in the first-half and then an Alex Moreno own goal all but secured them the victory. England striker Ollie Watkins pulled back a consolation goal but they could not mount a comeback and now they lie fifth in the current league standings.

The two sides met just over a month ago in the Midlands and played to a 1-1 draw. Cameron Archer formerly of Villa opened the scoring in the 87th minute but in the seventh minute of additional time Nicolo Zaniolo scored an equaliser. If results can go in Villa's favour and they claim a victory then they could retake their place in the top four, leapfrogging Spurs. United are rock bottom of the division at the moment but would overtake Burnley with a victory.

Both Unai Emery and Chris Wilder will have some decisions to make as to whether to include their new signings in on Saturday. Here's the latest injury and team news ahead of the clash in Yorkshire.
