Manchester United are keen on signing a Wolverhampton Wanderers star this January transfer window.

New Man Utd manager Ruben Amorim is reportedly eager to make Wolves left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri his first signing in a surprise winter swoop.

The Sun reports United have been ‘placed on red alert’ as Ait-Nouri is eyeing a move away from Molineux. It’s stated Amorim wants to add depth in left defence due to Luke Shaw’s ongoing injury issues, with Ait-Nouri high up on the list of targets.

It’s claimed Shaw will remain the first-choice as a wing-back in a new 3-4-3 system but Ait-Nouri is wanted to add cover and competition. If United were to make a stunning swoop, they would be competing with bitter rivals Liverpool as Arne Slot also wants a new left-back, as per several reports.

Ait-Nouri ticks several boxes for both Premier League giants as his attacking attributes stack up with some of the best left-backs in the division. The 13-time Algeria international has contributed three goals and two assists in 12 league matches so far this season.

It’s not been such a great start to the 2024/25 term defensively as Wolves have conceded a division high of 28 goals - and Ait-Nouri has struggled with his positioning at times - but he’s still got plenty of time to improve that part of his game.

Transfermarkt values Ait-Nouri at €35million (£29.1m) following his impressive start to the campaign. It awaits to be seen if Wolves would be open to a sale at that price or any other but it’s worth noting the player’s contract only has 18 months left to run.
