Aston Villa take on Wolves at Villa Park looking to bounce back after their defeat to Tottenham before the international break.

Dean Smith’s team have seen two defeats and two wins in their last four games gaining important wins against both Manchester United and Everton.

They were less successful against Tottenham Hotspur however as Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and an own goal from Matt Targett either side of an Ollie Watkins finish gave victory to the London based team.

Villa have played three matches at home so far this season and they remain unbeaten. Dean Smith’s side have been inconsistent so far this season with just three wins from their first seven games despite spending heavily in the summer. One of those signings Emiliano Buendia could be in line to start after only making the bench in Villa’s last two. However, they are still waiting to see whether another signing Leon Bailey will be fit.

It could be argued that the international break came at the wrong time for Wolverhampton Wanderers who were gaining traction in the Premier league after a string of victories. They are only expected to be without long-term absentee Pedro Neto for this trip to their Midlands rivals.

One Wolves player motivated to see Villa lose will be winger Adama Traore, he had a difficult time at Villa Park earlier in his career.

He however has been on the bench for the last two fixtures against Southampton and Newcastle United and he was not included in Spains squad during the international break.

However it is thought that Traore could be set for a recall as Francisco Tinaco who joined from Barcelona last summer is in doubt. he contracted. Covid-19 last week.

Wolves have only lost once at Villa Park in the last eight meetings and a win would see them leapfrog Villa in the table.
