Premier League team of the week dominated by Aston Villa, Chelsea, Newcastle United and Man City

Here's how the Premier League team of the week shapes up for the weekend of January 12-14.

Another Premier League weekend of action - albeit a much shorter one - has now come to a close, with some key results up and down the division.

Hardly anything could separate the 10 sides taking to the field, with three draws and two victories by a one-goal margin. Unai Emery, for instance, endured his first-ever Premier League 0-0 stalemate at the 97th time of asking as Aston Villa failed to beat Everton despite dominating possession and having the better chances.

Manchester City came out on top in a five-goal thriller at St. James' Park, beating Newcastle United 3-2. Kevin De Bruyne, off the bench on his injury return, was in scintillating form as he notched one goal and one assist.

Meanwhile, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur played out an entertaining 2-2 sharing of points at Old Trafford, Chelsea narrowly beat local rivals Fulham 1-0, and Burnley drew 1-1 with Luton Town.

Although there were only five games compared to the usual 10, there were still plenty of standout performers from the weekend just gone. It would be tricky to pick just 11 to form a team of the week but WhoScored's rating system does the hard yards for us.

Without further ado, here's the Premier League team of the week for Jan 12-14, 2024.
