Some initial details have been announced ahead of the 2024/25 Premier League fixture release day.

Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers will discover their schedules for the new campaign in just one week’s time as the release day is Tuesday, June 18.

It’s a date many football fans up and down the country - as well as across the world - look forward to more than many others. Consider it the New Year’s Eve of major holidays as you ponder the 12 months just gone and look ahead to the next, setting targets and anticipating levels of success.

In the meantime, there are some minor details for fans to dig their teeth into – including the start and end dates of the upcoming season. It’s been announced the first round of fixtures will be on the weekend of August 17/18, while the final games will take place on Sunday, May 25, 2025.

There’s also been confirmation that there will be no mid-season break in January. That detail is particularly controversial as many clubs suffered from fitness issues last campaign. No time off for the players - as well as bigger European schedules - could increase the risk of injuries even further.

It’s been set out that there will be a total of 33 weekends of action to fulfil the usual 38 fixtures. There will be four midweek rounds of matches, too, as well as one action-packed Bank Holiday.

Villa will be keen to continue their remarkable upward trajectory after finishing fourth and qualifying for the Champions League. Wolves, meanwhile, will be targeting a top-half finish after Gary O’Neil steered the Old Gold to safety with relative ease last term.
