Premier League ‘dirtiest’ teams table: Where Aston Villa, Spurs, Newcastle, Leeds & Everton sit - gallery

The dirtiest Premier League teams in 2022/23 ranked – including Aston Villa, Tottenham, Newcastle, Leeds, Everton and rivals.

The Premier League is widely regarded as one of best footballing divisions in the world - if not the - and a lot of the reason why is down to the vast physicality shown within it.

From players with fierce pace to those with sheer strength and superb stamina, the English top flight is littered with big names successful due to their physical attributes.

Sometimes, though, the nature of the league can bring about plenty of disciplinary actions, with Premier League referees often dishing out yellow and red cards throughout matches.

Mike Dean, who has now stepped down from on-field duties to become a video assistant referee (VAR), is arguably the most famous having handed out more than 100 red cards during his career.

It’s been a highly contested season with exciting races for the title and Champions League spots, as well as a nervy relegation battle between five or six teams in the bottom half.

It comes as no surprise, then, that a whopping 806 cards have been handed out in total so far this term. But which teams have been the worst culprits for heading into the referee’s book?

Ranked by the most ‘points’ collected - one for a yellow, three for a red via a second yellow, and five for a straight red - here are the dirtiest teams in the Premier League this term, from least to most.
