Major Premier League decision that impacts Aston Villa, Liverpool, Brighton, Man City, Newcastle United, Man United and Arsenal

The Premier League have announced the outcome of the bidding rights from the 2025/26 season onwards.

The Premier League and Sky Sports have agreed a new rights deal which will bring more games to our television screens than ever. The rights for the Premier League were up for renewal, and Sky Sports will remain the primary broadcaster. 

A record 215 matches a season will be shown in the new four-year agreement. It will come in effect from the 2025/2026 campaign.

Perhaps one of the most notable changes is that multiple games will be available to broadcast at 2.00 pm on Sunday’s on Sky Sports. Several of Aston Villa’s league matches have been played in that time slot after being involved in the Europa Conference League

Brighton, Liverpool, and Villa all play on Thursday nights because of UEFA’s scheduling of Europa League and Conference League matches. Teams such as Man City, Arsenal, Newcastle United and Manchester United play on either Tuesday or Wednesday. Teams do who play on Wednesday night’s can’t play at 12.30 pm on Saturday. 

More matches will be shown on Friday and Monday nights. In another change, all 10 matches on the final day of the campaign will be broadcast.

TNT Sport have extended their rights and will air 52 matches a season whilst BBC will continue to show March of the Day until at least 2019. Amazon Prime, who are airing this weeks midweek Premier League fixtures, will no longer have the rights.
