Four names Birmingham City fans will be very familiar with as list of Swansea City manager contenders emerge - gallery

Swansea City parted company with Michael Duff this week - and a list of names has already developed from his sacking.

Birmingham City's Championship rivals Swansea City sacked Michael Duff earlier this week. It was the first of two sackings after Sunderland parted company with Tony Mowbray a matter of hours later.

The Swans faced Blues on the opening day of the season and drew 1-1, but just a few months on that fixture, both teams have changed their managers. Former Bradford City and Luton Town midfielder Alan Sheehan has been appointed as caretaker manager, and will oversee their match against managerless Rotherham United at the weekend.

Reports in South Wales have said that Nathan Jones is unlikely, and that comes as no surprise given he grew up as a Cardiff City supporter. John Eustace, who has been on Swansea's radar for a few-years and is available for free, is another candidate who has seemingly been ruled out. Eustace is said to be 'not interested' in replacing Duff according to WalesOnline, and rejected Swansea in 2021 before Russell Martin took over. He's been linked with the Sunderland job, and it'll be interesting to see where he ends up next, and how he values himself based on his next move.

Birmingham City play Swansea City at St Andrew's on January 13, and you'd imagine the Welsh club will have chosen a new manager by then. Eustace and Nathan Jones has seemingly been ruled out, but could a former Blues boss be in the away dugout come the New Year? Gary Rowett who left Millwall earlier this season, and Steve Bruce who is seemingly retired, are two names amongst a long list of contenders. Steve Cotterill, who had a spell in the Midlands with Blues is also an outside shout for the vacancy.

According to the BBC, Chris Davies is a leading candidate for the role. He's senior assistant coach at Spurs, and most of his career has been spent working alongside Brendan Rodgers at Celtic and Leicester City respectively.

Here is who the favourites are for the Swansea.com Stadium hot seat so far. Three men who have managed Birmingham City are amongst the long-list of contenders, whilst one of them have also managed Aston Villa. All odds come from SkyBet, the official sponsor of the EFL Championship.
