Aston Villa are close to signing Middlesbrough attacker Morgan Rogers, according to various reports.

According to Telegraph journalist John Percy, a deal has been agreed between Villa and Boro after a near month-long pursuit of the 21-year-old. It will cost Villa £15m in total to sign him. An initial £10m is being paid up-front and then a further £5m in add-ons, with Villa finally stumping up the cash after having three previous bids rejected. Premier League champions Manchester City will stand to profit from the deal after inserting a sell-on-clause in his contract.

A deal was agreed earlier this afternoon and meets the £15m asking fee that Middlesbrough had been holding out for. Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano added that a verbal agreement was made and that Rogers is leaving Middlesbrough's training ground to complete the move. A medical test has been booked in the next 24-hours and his arrival is imminent.

Rogers departs the Riverside Stadium having notched up six assists and two league goals in 14 Championship starts. He was a key part of the side that reached the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup and netted against Chelsea last week.

His imminent arrival represents the second piece of business for the first-team this month after Josta Nedeljkovic joined. The Serbian right-back joined for a reported £6.5m and was loaned back immediately to Red Star Belgrade.

In other news, Chelsea have rejected an approach from Wolves for striker Armando Broja. Broja is wanted by Villa, Wolves as well as other Premier League clubs, but the Blues have turned down Wolves' bid to take him to Molineux.

Wolves lodged a loan bid for Broja, but that was rejected. Chelsea want to include an obligation to buy at the end of the deal which would be in the excess of £30m according to the Express & Star. It would price Wolves out of a move for the forward as they are keen to stay within the parameters of Financial Fair Play after seeing the punishment handed out to Everton.
