Man Utd’s Qatari bidders’ stunning wealth compared to Aston Villa, Newcastle, Wolves and Leeds - gallery

Just how rich are Man Utd’s potential new Qatari owners compared to Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Wolves, Leeds United and the rest of the Premier League?

After being put up for sale by the Glazer Family in November of last year, Manchester United may finally have their new prospective owners in line, according to reports. It is expected that the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, will lead the State’s bid of over £4 billion, set to be launched by Friday.

Sky Sports News reports that ‘no final decision has been made but a bid is likely’, with plans ‘already made about how the club would be transformed’ under Qatari ownership. Already full owners of French Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain, Qatar Sports Investments, a subsidiary of Qatar’s sovereign wealth fund, want to expand into England.

With the Emir of Qatar a big United supporter himself, there is extra motivation for such a deal to be centred around the Red Devils. QSI are satisfied with their achievements at PSG since 2011, as they have transformed the club from a value of €100 million to around £2.6 billion, but the Premier League offers a far higher ceiling for their investment.

United are not the only team to be entering - or have entered - a new era, as there is plenty of speculation surrounding the future of Liverpool’s ownership and Newcastle United were bought out by the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund back in 2021. But where would a QSI takeover of Erik ten Hag’s side impact the rest of the Premier League?

From the least rich to the most, here is a ranked breakdown of the latest net worths of the current owners in the Premier League, compared to the astronomical wealth of the QSI. See below.
