The 2023/24 EFL Championship season kicks off in under one month with Birmingham City travelling too Swansea City and West Brom headed to Blackburn Rovers on the opening weekend.

Meanwhile, both clubs are still wrapped up in the summer transfer window and a former Baggies star could be on course to sign for one of their league rivals after featuring in a pre-season friendly against last season’s Premier League runners-up Arsenal. He’s not the only former West Brom man on the lookout for a new club and another is said to be of ‘interest’ to rivals Birmingham City according to reports. Former West Brom star features as trialist against Arsenal

The Daily Mail have reported that former West Brom midfielder Jake Livermore played as a trialist for Watford in their friendly against Arsenal on Saturday. The 33-year old is currently with the Baggies’ Championship rivals as they take a closer look at him with a view to a potentially offering him a contract ahead of the new campaign.

The match took place behind closed doors and previous reports have suggested the former England international has been training with the Hornets for the past week. The midfielder was released by West Brom when his contract expired at the end of last month and is currently a free agent.

Birmingham City ‘interested’ in former West Brom and Celtic man

Per a report from Football League World, Birmingham City have an interest in signing Oliver Burke this summer. The 26-year old forward is currently with German side Werder Bremen but is expected to be pushing for a move away after failing to impress while on loan at Millwall last season.

The 26-year old, who has won 13 caps for Scotland but has not featured for his country since 2020, began his career at Nottingham Forest and has turned out for clubs such as West Brom, Celtic and Sheffield United. It is claimed that Blues’ boss John Eustace is looking to sign a new forward to bolster his attacking options.
