Championship team of the week features West Brom, Southampton, Ipswich Town and Hull City stars

A look at the Championship team of the week for the weekend of February 2-4, 2024.

The Sky Bet Championship weekend just gone was a real mixed bag as some games were packed with drama and goals but others saw the net bulge just once or twice.

Five of the 12 fixtures played had just one goal scored, while only three matches had four or more goals. Nonetheless, the ramifications of results up and down the division were huge – especially as there was just one draw.

The West Midlands Derby between West Bromwich Albion and Birmingham City ended narrowly in the Baggies' favour as former Aston Villa man Andreas Weimann punished Blues with a winning goal in the 85th minute.

Leicester City moved one step closer to winning the title with a dominant 5-0 win away at Stoke City, while Southampton and Leeds United managed victories over Rotherham United and Bristol City respectively to keep ground.

Ipswich Town, meanwhile, have fallen to fourth after being stunned by Preston North End. Kieran McKenna's side went 3-0 down before Deadline Day signing Kieffer Moore came off the bench to score a brace and reduce the deficit to 3-2.

Huddersfield Town's 4-0 thrashing of Sheffield Wednesday and Queens Park Rangers' 2-1 win at Blackburn Rovers threw the relegation battle wide open. Just five points now separate QPR in 22nd and Millwall in 16th.

Other results in the Championship over the weekend of February 2 to February 4 include Middlesbrough 1-1 Sunderland, Watford 0-1 Cardiff City, Hull City 1-0 Millwall, Norwich City 2-1 Coventry City and Swansea City 0-1 Plymouth Argyle.

So many players impressed over the weekend that it would be difficult to pick just 11 to form a team of the week. Thankfully for us, WhoScored's rating system does the hard yards for us. With that in mind, here are the best performers in their respective positions.
