The Sky Bet Championship is well and truly back following a midweek-round of fixtures following a return of league football last weekend after the international break.
West Brom bounced back from their goalless draw against Plymouth Argyle to beat strugglers QPR. Brandon Thomas-Asante scored a penalty in the 59th minute and then after Jimmy Dunne had been sent off following the foul, Grady Diangana wrapped up the points for the Baggies in a 2-0 win at The Hawthorn's.
Carlos Corberan's side are now sixth in the league standings and are ahead of Cardiff City and Hull City on goal difference. QPR meanwhile are second from bottom and have picked up just eight points this season with their last win not coming since September.
Elsewhere in the Championship, Southampton and Preston North End drew 2-2 after a Ched Evans own goal in front of the Sky Sports television cameras. Patrick Bamford missed a penalty and that proved costly as Leeds United lost to Stoke City courtesy of a Patrick Struijk own goal.
The bigest winners were Cardiff City who put four on Huddersfield Town who are managed by ex Baggies boss Darren Moore, whilst his old club Sheffield Wednesday lost 3-0 to Plymouth Argyle. League leaders Leicester City beat Sunderland 1-0 whilst Rotherham United claimed a surprise 2-0 victory over Coventry City at the New York Stadium.
Plenty of players impressed over the course of Tuesday and Wednesday, and now a team of 11 has been released to make for the team of the midweek.
