Birmingham City’s dazzling £36m squad value compared to Southampton, Norwich City, Sheffield Wednesday Middlesbrough, Watford and rivals - gallery

This dazzling table shows the Championship clubs with the highest squad value ahead of the 2023/24 season.

With the return of the Sky Bet Championship now merely a couple of weeks away, clubs are spending plenty on transfers to get well-prepared.

Some other the biggest deals so far include Shea Charles to Southampton for £10.5 million, Harry Winks to Leicester City for £10 million, and Ellis Simms to Coventry City for £6.1 million.

But it’s not just big fees that are making the headlines as other teams in the English second tier are working effectively with tighter budgets.

Birmingham City have perhaps done the best job of this as they’re currently in the green in terms of net spending, despite bringing in six players expected to get regular game time.

Blues and other sides in the division have upped their squad market values considerably, while others have seen their numbers drop. With that in mind, here are the latest figures – all in one place.
