The Baggies along with Bristol City, a an unnamed Ligue One club and seven unidentified Championship teams are said to be chasing his signature according to Foot Mercato. The French outlet says that Diarra 'could well leave' the Terriers before the window shuts on Thursday and that has put West Brom along with any interest suitors on alert.

Earlier this month, Sun journalist Alan Nixon said that Huddersfield would 'cash in' on Diarra this month. He was linked with a move to Leicester City when they were in the Premier League and that could reveal the identity of one of the seven other second-tier teams interested.

Diarra is a central midfielder by trade and has appeared 19 times for Huddersfield Town this season. He has notched up one assist which came against Southampton in November. Diarra has not made a start for Huddersfield Town since August having not featured much in Darren Moore's plans.

Huddersfield recently parted company with Moore this week and may be reluctant to part ways with any players should the new boss want to take a closer look at them. He is out of contract in the summer however according to TransferMarkt, and so he could be available at a cut-price should Huddersfield entertain the idea of selling him.

The French-born midfielder is a five-time Mali under-23 international and arrived in England in 2019 after beginning his career with AC Boulogne-Billancourt. He enjoyed his first real taste of English football in January 22 when he joined League Two side Harrogate Town, making 14 appearances in all competitions. Diarra returned to Huddersfield and broke in to the first-team, making 20 appearances last term.

In other news, West Brom should find out the decision of Chaka Traore, who was linked with a loan move from AC Milan on Tuesday. Gianluca Di Marzio, a journalist for Sky Italia says that it is between the Baggies and Swiss side Lausanne as to where he will end up.
