Birmingham City have revealed their third kit for the 2021/2022 season and it’s different to say the least.

It’s orange and green. Yes, orange and green. And has tiger like stripes on the front of the shirt - similar to that of fellow Championship side Hull City.

The club say that it is manufactured by Nike and based on supporter feedback, they have embroidered the badge back onto the top - meaning supporters don’t have to deal with those awful stick on ones - which is of course good news.

But that’s pretty much where the good news ends for most.

On the reasons behind the rest of the design, the statement reads:

“Designed by the world’s leading footwear and apparel company, this statement piece jersey catches the eye courtesy of a state-of-the-art all over patterned front print composed of Safety Orange and Noble Green.

“Signed off with an overlap ‘V-neck’ collar for style and comfort, the distinctive design is again a special make up composition unique to Blues, meaning no other Club in the UK will boast this particular design.

“Made with the latest Dri-FIT technology and 100% polyester product, it also features a black side seam elasticated panel for an enhanced comfortable fitted look.

“And, as part of Nike’s Move to Zero Initiative, the kit is made with at least 75% recycled fibres, which reduces waste and carbon footprint.”

A lot of thought has gone into the design and the ideas behind it were in good nature so you can’t fault them for trying something new - however, that doesn’t mean the kit itself has to be liked.

And the majority of fans, well, they don’t like it at all.

@B9Denaro: “I haven’t seen a single smile from a player wearing this kit.”

@JamesCWestwood: “So... am I the only person that likes this???

And plenty more that aren’t fit for broadcast! The kit might not have gone down too well but the comments make up for it. Good on you, Bluenoses.
