Birmingham City’s players will return to Wast Hills training ground on Monday (June 20) to go through their usual pre-season fitness testing ahead of the new campaign getting underway in August.

They’ll have three weeks worth of training before jetting off on their pre-season tour and hopefully between now and then, will have a bit more clarity over the future of the club - from playing staff to ownership.

But without trying to dwell on it too much, there is a tour to look forward to - one that Blues fans and players can go on and hopefully have a bit of fun in the sun before the real serious stuff starts.

Where is Birmingham City’s pre-season tour taking place?

Birmingham will head to the Algarve in Portugal ahead of the 22/23 Championship season for a week long training camp. Beginning on July 6th, the team will remain their until July 13th.

There is just one game arranged for Blues during their week-long stay in the Algarve.

Lee Bowyer’s men will take on Portimonense S.C of Portugal’s top flight.

The Portuguese outfit, that are managed by former Hearts boss Paulo Sergio, finished the most recent campaign 13th.

What are the dates and times of Birmingham City’s pre-season fixtures?

After a week of hard work, the Blues round off their tour with the game against the Portuguese side coming on the penultimate day, Tuesday July 12th.

Kick-off is scheduled for 19:00 (BST).

Cheapest flights available to Portugal

You can fly to Faro airport in Portugal the day prior to the game on July 11th for as little as £25 (one way) with a return ticket dependent on your return date being as little as £50.

Flights run regularly from Birmingham airport to Faro with the average price in the week run-up to the game being around £35-£40 one way or £65-£70 return.
