Birmingham City wonderkid Jordan James remains on the transfer radar of a whole host of clubs ahead of the summer window, with a new team now on the horizon.

Atalanta looked to be the likeliest suitors in January as the Serie A outfit made an official €5 million (£4.28 million) bid but speculation has quietened. Blues' £10 million valuation became rather public knowledge and James stayed as no appropriate offer was tabled.

Financial power in Italian football has long been inferior to that in England and the Premier League could well be the route for James. Wolverhampton Wanderers and Everton have been credited with long-standing interest, while Crystal Palace are also in the picture.

But another team in Italy are eager to show their hand. Gazzetta dello Sport reports Atalanta will only return to the table if Birmingham are relegated to Sky Bet League One, while Bologna, currently flying high fourth in Serie A, have a strong interest.

The Champions League chasers may have to replace Lewis Ferguson as the Scottish midfielder is currently locked in contract negotiations. James is claimed to match the 'ideal profile' Bologna are looking for, making him a priority midfield target.

Already a nine-time senior Wales appearance maker, 19-year-old James is making an impression on an international stage. Not only that but he's scored eight goals in 36 Sky Bet Championship matches for Birmingham this season, playing in a variety of roles.

Capable of featuring as a number six, eight, 10, or even as a wide playmaker, James has the versatility to match his stunning valuation. Blues are likely to receive plenty more interest in the weeks and months ahead, with a huge summer decision expected.
