Birmingham City ‘nearing agreement’ with former Everton and Middlesbrough ace

Lukas Jutkiewicz is of course the man, a Blues club legend and one supporters are desperate to see remain at St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park next season.
The 35-year-old’s contract expires on June 30 and he will be available to join another club for free if a new deal isn’t agreed. But, thankfully for Bluenoses, Jutkiewicz is said to be nearing signing on for another year to help his beloved team bounce back up to the Championship.

Hide AdBirmingham Live reports discussions have been underway with Jutkiewicz since Chris Davies was named the new manager. It’s claimed the club and player are “close to agreeing terms” in a move that would see ‘the Juke’ stay put until at least June 2025.
Jutkiewicz hoping for a better season
It’s hoped the drop to League One will increase Jutkiewicz’s game time after he played just 548 minutes in the Championship last term, scoring three goals. The striker’s presence in the dressing room is just as valuable as it is on the pitch but he understandably wants to feature as often as possible.

Often utilised as a target man due to his aerial ability and outstanding hold-up play, Jutkiewicz has scored 66 goals and made 27 assists in 330 appearances for Birmingham since joining from Burnley in 2016. What was initially a loan deal has since become a mightily successful £1 million transfer.
Veteran goalkeeper John Ruddy is another senior Blues player offered a new contract. It awaits to be seen what the former Norwich City and Wolverhampton Wanderers man has in mind for his future.
