Birmingham City have received emphatic feedback from supporters amid speculative transfer links to Manchester United defender Ethan Laird.

Rumours have emerged that Birmingham have an interest in bringing the 21-year-old to St Andrew’s following his season-long loan spell at Queens Park Rangers.

It must be made clear that nothing concrete has been reported at this stage, but it’s a move that would perhaps make sense for all parties if it does end up becoming something of substance.

Blues need a right-back following the departure of long-term servant Maxime Colin and the likelihood of Laird breaking through at Old Trafford is very low.

The player was set to become a free agent this summer but a one-year extension to his United stay was agreed to allow for some extra thinking space.

Manchester Evening News claimed two weeks ago that Laird would be assessed by Erik ten Hag in pre-season before a decision is made, with another loan move possible.

@SwanyHypno wrote: “My word does Darren Fletcher love Blues and Craig Gardner.”

@PowellyMSP19 shared: “If the Laird rumours down the rounds are true and the possibility of a permanent as well, RB/RWB is sorted for a good few seasons for me.”
