Tony Mowbray has revealed Lukas Jutkiewicz and Neil Etheridge missed Birmingham City's 2-1 FA Cup triumph over Hull City due to injuries, while Emanuel Aiwu stayed at home through illness.

The trio were all completely absent from the matchday squad on Tuesday night, prompting concern among the Blues fanbase over potential sales in the January transfer window. Those worries have now been eased, though injuries are of course far from ideal.

“Etheridge and Lukas are injured. Both had scans and both are going to miss a couple of weeks," Mowbray said during his post-match press conference. "I think Juke’s is definitely his calf – he’s going to miss two or three weeks.

"Etheridge got injured yesterday [Monday]. I’m guessing it’s a hamstring but it might be a calf. What do managers know, eh? What I do know is he’s not fit.

"Now, Aiwu’s actually ill. He had a doctor send him home because he was coughing up a lot of mucus. He’s at home ill. So, nothing sinister in there other than a couple of injuries and some illness," Mowbray concluded.

Based on the time frames set out by Mowbray, Jutkiewicz and Etheridge are set to miss the trip to Stoke City on Saturday. They will also be unavailable for the FA Cup fourth round tie at Leicester City on January 27, while they will be doubts for the crunch clash at West Bromwich Albion on February 3.
