The genius free agent signing who could make Birmingham City a lethal force next season

Birmingham City have the opportunity to bring in some new faces ahead of the next campaign. The Blues are well on their way to securing an immediate promotion from League One. They were relegated from the Championship last year along with Huddersfield Town and Rotherham United.
The Midlands outfit have bounced back well and have adapted with ease to life in the third tier. They turned to Chris Davies as their manager last summer and he has done an impressive job. Prior to his move, he worked as the number two with the likes of Celtic, Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur.

Rangers winger Tom Lawrence is out of contract at the end of the season. He is due to become a free agent in late June and is yet to put pen-to-paper on an extension at Ibrox. Birmingham should look at trying to lure him down th the border to England ahead of next term.
Wrexham are admirers of the player, according to the Daily Mail. Championship teams Burnley, Coventry City, West Brom, Middlesbrough and Blackburn Rovers have also been credited with an interest. The Wales international is also said to be wanted abroad by the likes of Olympiacos, PAOK and Besiktas.
Lawrence, 31, would give the Blues more competition and depth going forward if they managed to land him. He would also offer them something different to what they already have. The forward is an experienced operator in the game and has scored 67 goals in 364 games in all competitions.
He has recently said: “I think every player matures more and more. I can play in various positions for Rangers - centre-midfield, number 10, right wing, left wing, false nine - so it adapts. I've played in a lot of big games, I've been at Rangers and that's only going to help you, especially coming back into the international level.”

Landing Lawrence would be a no-brainer for Birmingham if the opportunity arose. The fact he would be available for free would mean they don’t need to fork out a fee for him. That wouold free up the finances to push to boost a different position instead.
The Blues won 6-2 at home to Barnsley this weekend. Alfie May scored twice against the Tykes whilst Jay Stansfield, Luke Harris, Kieron Dowell and Lukas Jutkiewicz also got on the scoresheet. Davies said afterwards: “To score six goals at home and win 6-2 is a wonderful day for us.
“I thought were good throughout, we had to be patient when they went down to ten men but to score six in front of the home fans is brilliant. Against ten men, it’s a mental game. You can think it’s going to be easy, but it doesn’t work like that.
“To get a sucker punch after we score, with a long throw, that frustration can build so it was really important for me at half-time that I calmed the players down and made them see the game quite clearly and what we needed to do, the positions we needed to get into and how to attack them relentlessly. If we did that, we would score the goals to win the match and we did.”
