The Birmingham City team that could take part in the returning Masters Football tournament

Birmingham City won the penultimate edition of Masters Football in 2010

Masters Football is coming back!

Yes, you read that right, the most prestigious football tournament of them all is making a comeback and fans of all clubs have come together in unison at the news.

For those unaware, Masters Football was an annual indoor six-a-side football tournament that took place in the summer with players past and present able to take part as long as they were over the age of 35.

It was a great event that saw your old favourites suit up again and more than anything it was a cracking bit of entertainment to fill that football-less void over the summer.

There have been calls for it to come back ever since it ended in 2011 and fans have finally got their wish with sports documentary streaming website 360 Sports TV getting the rights for the big return.

Teams have not yet been announced for the inaugural edition of the remaster but Birmingham City could well be in with a spot after playing a big part in the initial run.

The Blues actually won the penultimate edition of Masters Football in 2010.

A team which was captained by Paul Devlin and included the likes of Tommy Mooney and Geoff Horsfield were the last standing of an eight which also included rivals Aston Villa.

Eight or nine players tend to be on each side in total whilst roll-on, roll-off substitutions were allowed throughout.

If the Blues are back in Masters Football action in 2023, here’s the squad we’d love to see take part!
