Birmingham City midfielder Ryan Woods’ move to Championship rivals Hull City could be announced as early as today.

That’s according to Football Insider who state that the 28-year-old, who has been with Blues for just one full season, ‘completed’ a medical with the Tigers early on Wednesday.

After starting the two opening games of the season for John Eustace, Woods was left out of Birmingham’s last two match-day squads following rumours of a move to the MKM Stadium.

And the Blues man was pictured in attendance at Turf Moor on Tuesday evening, watching on as his proposed new side played out a 1-1 draw with recently relegated Burnley.

The defensive midfielder still has two-years left on his contract at St Andrew’s and will require a decent fee from Hull, should the transfer be finalised.

Mutch to do about?

Elsewhere and former Cardiff City and Crystal Palace midfielder Jordon Mutch remains training with Birmingham and whilst Eustace has constantly played down the potential of a permanent deal for the player, Woods going the other way could free up some room for that to change.

Speaking after the 1-1 draw with Watford, the manager told BirminghamLive:

“Jordy is with us still, Cyrus [Christie] hasn’t been with us for a few days now.”

“If he needs to carry on training, as I have said in the past, they are both my pals, I have played with them both. So if they want to train with us to keep them fit I am doing them a favour.”
