Real Madrid have incorporated a subtle message to Birmingham City that will feature on Jude Bellingham’s new shirt, following the boyhood Bluenose’s move to the Bernabeu.

The decision has been made to add the words ‘made in Birmingham’ to the inside tag of every Bellingham jersey, in bold writing just below the Adidas and Madrid logos.

Although Bellingham grew up in Stourbridge, just outside Birmingham, the message pays homage to the 19-year-old’s time at St Andrew’s before his move to Borussia Dortmund.

The wonderkid may have only played for Blues at a senior level for one season, but he made such a mark that the club famously retired his iconic number 22 shirt.

Bellingham’s transfer to Dortmund earned his boyhood team a sizeable £25 million fee and his recent switch to Los Blancos has reportedly gained Blues a further £10 million.

It’s not just financially that Bellingham has an impact at St Andrew’s, as he often visits during breaks from club duty. He also recently surprised fans with free shirts at a pop-up shop.

Real are of course many levels above Blues but their gesture of adding ‘made in Birmingham’ to the inside of their famous shirt will no doubt go down very well with Bluenoses.

It’s a show of respect and an indication that they’re eager to support Bellingham in his love for the club where it all started. Fair play, Madrid.
