Birmingham City remain in relegation trouble heading into their final two games, while West Brom are all-but certain to find themselves in the playoffs. Blues currently sit inside the bottom three, one point from safety ahead of a crucial clash with Huddersfield Town, while the Baggies are six points ahead of Hull City in seventh, though the Tigers have a game in-hand to play.

With Norwich City between West Brom and Hull, the Baggies are well on their way to the playoffs, especially with a strong goal difference to call upon. In the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest from around the Championship.

Frith verdict

Valencia forward Declan Frith has been linked with a move to Birmingham City and others ahead of this summer, and pundit Carlton Palmer has issued his verdict on the situation. “Declan Frith is expected to leave Valencia this summer,” Palmer told Football League World.

“The 21-year-old, formerly of Chelsea and Aston Villa, is supposed to be frustrated at the lack of first team appearances. Clubs in the UK like QPR, Birmingham City and Watford are all running the eye over him, he comes highly regarded in England and he scored 12 goals and eight assists in his final season when he was here in Aston Villa’s academy.

“He also had a spell at Chelsea, and can play as a striker, left-winger or left-back. He is highly regarded by the US national team, so of course clubs are looking to do business with the season quickly approaching. I wouldn’t worry about the sizeable sell-on fee.

“You only get that fee if he comes and produces the goods, so you won’t worry about that. You hope that he comes and fulfils his promise. He’s highly regarded, he’s got a lot of ability but he now needs to be playing regular first team football, so whichever club can give him first team football I wouldn’t be worrying about the sell-on clause, he just needs to get back playing and show the immense talent that he’s got.”

According to The Athletic, with Vardy out of contract after this season, Leicester are planning to begin talks over a new deal, but those talks will take place after the current campaign has concluded.
