‘Controversial’ attacking inclusion and youngster makes first start in 213 days - Birmingham City predicted XI vs QPR

Predicting Gary Rowett’s Birmingham City lineup vs Queens Park Rangers in the Sky Bet Championship.

Good Friday is go time; Gary Rowett is back in the Birmingham City dugout and ready to kickstart a 2023/24 season redemption as Blues travel away to Queens Park Rangers.

Every remaining fixture will feel like a cup final but this one particularly as it's a huge six-pointer in the relegation fight. QPR are just one point ahead of Blues, who are currently surviving the drop by merely two goal difference to 22nd-placed Huddersfield Town. Sheffield Wednesday could also be a threat, as Danny Rohl's side are one point below the Terriers.

Birmingham, without a victory since Tony Mowbray stepped back in mid-February, will be desperate for a positive result. It'll be tough to achieve at Loftus Road, though, as the Rs have lost just one of their previous five outings, winning two and drawing two. The Rangers are also just as keen to win so they can move further away from the bottom three.

Rowett, naming his first Blues lineup in 2,633 days, has plenty of selection dilemmas, starting with the formation. The former Millwall boss tends to use a back three but the personnel available may not suit that approach, meaning the 4-2-3-1 shape could remain a while longer. With that in mind, here are the 11 players we predict Rowett will name on Friday, including a controversial attacking inclusion.
