35-goal Championship star to undergo Birmingham City medical as £1m transfer agreed
According to Adam Leventhal, a journalist for the Athletic, a £1m bid has been accepted by the Championship club, and Dykes will undergo a medical with Blues today. Dykes once the medical is completed will sign a three-year deal at St Andrew’s.
It was reported at the weekend that Birmingham along with Millwall had been chasing the Scotland striker but once again, the pull of playing for Birmingham City has seen a player choose a move to them, over playing in a higher division. Millwall had been looking at Dykes after a deal to sign Middlesbrough’s Josh Coburn had broken down, whilst Birmingham have further added to their front line.

Head coach Marti Cifuentes was asked by the BBC why he was left out, and he said that he picked players on availability, with Dykes unavailable. He is not carrying an injury, and Cifuentes was asked whether he'd remain at Loftus Road, to which he replied: "I don't know."
The 28-year-old has been a reliable source of goals for QPR since his arrival in August 2020. Despite only playing five minutes of Championship football this season, Dykes was able to get an equaliser for the Hoops in a 2-2 draw with Sheffield United.
Last season, Dykes had seven goals in 43 games across all competitions, and that earned him a call-up to the Scotland national team. He unfortunately had to withdraw from international duty after suffering an injury in training. To date, he has nine goals in 31 caps for Scotland, having made his debut for them in September 2020.
His best season so far in English football is the 12 goals and five assists he got in 42 games in the 2020/21 season. For the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons, he twice registered eight goals in the league. His career best campaign is 11 assists and eight goals in 34 games in the Scottish Championship for the Queen of the South. His record in the EFL Championship is 35 goals and 11 assists in 156 games with his overall record for QPR being 37 goals in 165 games.
