The away allocations Birmingham City could enjoy in League One next season - including Wrexham and Wigan

Birmingham City are one of the 20 clubs that know they will be playing in League One for the 2024/25 season.

Blues suffered relegation from the Championship last weekend despite beating Norwich City on the final day. All the results went against them with wins for Plymouth Argyle, Blackburn Rovers and Sheffield Wednesday.

For the first time in over 30 years, Birmingham are playing outside of English football's top two tiers. It's a far cry from 13-years ago when they lifted the Carabao Cup after beating Arsenal and were in the Premier League.

It may be raw still to some supporters who will have seen their team go from potential play-off contenders to a team now relegated. Some of the St Andrew's faithful though are looking forward to grounds that they've not been to before or haven't for a long time.

Next season won't be easy but Birmingham are arguably the biggest club in the division and have wealthy backers in Knighthead, who have grand plans for the club. It could allow for a reset with plenty of decisions to be made over the future of the coaching and playing staff, as well as their strategy for next season.

Barnsley will be playing in the division next year after Bolton Wanderers defeated them in the play-offs and now we await the victor of Oxford United and Peterborough United. In League Two, one of Crawley Town, Crewe Alexandra, Doncaster Rovers and MK Dons will come up, joining Mansfield Town, Stockport County and Wrexham.
