Hide AdBirmingham City remain the firm favourites to win promotion and lift the League One title following their latest result.
Blues claimed a 1-0 win over Huddersfield Town at St. Andrew's @ Knighthead Park on Tuesday night. Alfie May, who looked set to join the Terriers in the summer before Birmingham came in, scored the only goal of the game as Chris Davies' side extended their lead at the top.
Five points separate Birmingham and Wrexham with Blues having a game in hand over the Welsh outfit. At the start of the campaign, Huddersfield would have been considered Birmingham's main rivals for promotion and the title, as the two weren't too far apart in the Championship standings last season.

Hide AdMichael Duff's men dropped down to 15th following the defeat, but such is the competitive nature of the division, a win at the weekend could move them in to the top eight. Elsewhere in the division, former manager Garry Monk saw his side lose once again, suffering defeat to Rotherham United. The U's along with Burton Albion are the only teams in the division without a win in the league campaign.
Birmingham are away at Charlton Athletic at the weekend with more than 3,000 supporters in the away end. The Addicks suffered a 3-2 defeat to Bristol Rovers, with their two goals coming late on. Manager Nathan Jones apologised to Charlton fans and took full responsibility for the manner of their performance.
Rival supporters at the start of the season said Birmingham would be in for a reality check, but so far that is yet to happen. They've got seven wins and a draw, and the supporters are coming out in their numbers to support the team. It’s early days yet, but already, Birmingham are well ahead of the rest in terms of the likelihood of winning the title, and promotion according to the current markets.
