Ex-Birmingham City, Luton, Cardiff, and Plymouth striker finds new club 1,644 days after last match

Former Birmingham City striker Isaac Vassell has made a return to football four-and-a-half years after his last competitive appearance.
The 30-year-old has signed terms with Bath City who play in the National League South, the sixth tier of English football. He had been training with League One side Bristol Rovers before making the move to Twerton Park.

“Isaac joins us with a wealth of EFL experience and will be in contention tomorrow night.
“Welcome to Twerton Park, Isaac.”
Bath are chasing promotion to the National League and are currently fourth. They are currently 18 points off of league leaders Yeovil Town and have a three-point lead over Maidstone United in the play-offs. The Romans have Braintree Town at home on Tuesday, February 27 and that would represent Vassell's first game for his new club.
Vassell’s last club was Birmingham City’s Championship rivals Cardiff City who signed him for an undisclosed fee in 2019. He played 24 times for Birmingham over two seasons, scoring one goal which came in a win against Sheffield Wednesday in 2017. He endured an injury-plagued time during his time at St Andrew's and suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury just weeks into his move from Luton Town.

The Newquay-born forward did play a few games for the Bluebirds’ under-21s team but was unable to make his way back into the first-team picture at the Welsh club and was subsequently released.
The other clubs in his career include Plymouth Argyle where he started in 2011, and had loan spells with Truro City, Bideford and Weymouth before joining Truro permanently in 2014. His most prolific scoring spell was 16 goals in 49 appearances for Truro in the Southern League Premier Division.
