Birmingham City manager Lee Bowyer doesn’t want Harlee Dean to be the only departure at St Andrew’s following the news that the centre-back looks to be on the move, adding that ‘change’ is needed at the club.
Bowyer confirmed that Sheffield Wednesday had come in for Dean and it’s a transfer that is now seemingly near completion.

“I think that there needs to be change. Some people [are] in a comfort zone.
“I think that if things don’t change we will be in the same situation every year.
“Yes, he is the club captain but I demand certain things and expect certain things to happen.
“That’s why he is moving on.”

Hide AdWhen pushed on the ‘change’ question and whether he would like to ship more players out this month, Bowyer did what can only be described as a long sarcastic laugh which screamed ‘if only.’
It was written all over his face that there were some he wanted to see the back of but understandably he wouldn’t reveal names, simply stating: “there needs to be change here, that’s all I’m saying.”
But whether or not more are shown the door, the good news is, the manager revealed he is working day and night to try and have two new players in the building before the game with Derby County on Sunday.
“I am hoping and pushing to try and get a couple in for Sunday because there were a lot of tired players out there today,” he added.

“We have to remember he has come back from a hamstring injury and I can’t even give him a little break.
“I have got a 17-year-old kid running around giving everything all the time.
“So they are two positions.”
