It’s a tale all too familiar of that of the Blues themselves

Coventry City could be without up to seven first team players for Good Friday’s Championship clash with Birmingham City.

Josh Eccles (muscle), Liam Kelly (hamstring), Jodi Jones (cartilage damage), Jake Clarke-Salter (groin), Matty Godden (calf) and Kyle McFadzean (calf) are all set to miss the contest through injury whilst Jordan Shipley is suffering with illness and will be monitored ahead of the game.

It’s come as a cruel blow to the Sky Blues who still have a slim chance of getting into the division’s play-off places come the end of the season and if they do manage to do so with the mounting problems, there’s no doubting they’ll have earned it.

Lee Bowyer and his side know all too well the struggles of injuries and illnesses this season and will have little sympathy for any other team going through a similar scenario.

Bowyer’s men are actually looking in their best shape of the season and yet could still be without four first teamers themselves for the Easter fixtures.

George Friend (calf/knee) is back in training but is still a way off returning to action and Neil Etheridge (concussion) will more than likely not be risked.

Manchester United loan duo Teden Mengi (hamstring) and Tahith Chong (hamstring) will both miss out with the former having no returned to the Red Devils to receive treatment.
