Championship team of the season so far dominated by Birmingham City, Leeds United, Ipswich Town and Leicester City - gallery

Here’s how the EFL Championship team of the season looks after 11 matches, as seven ‘lucky’ clubs are included.

EFL Championship action has come to a temporary close for the second international break of the 2023/24 campaign, allowing everyone connected to all 24 teams to reflect on the first 11 matches.

Leicester City and Ipswich Town have blown away the competition and look like heavy favourites for automatic promotion, whereas Sheffield Wednesday and Rotherham United are the division’s dwindlers.

West Midlands sides Birmingham City and West Bromwich Albion have had fairly contrasting starts when it comes to expectations as Blues have exceeded theirs but the Baggies are falling slightly below par.

It’s not just the clubs being judged, though, as some players have gone above and beyond to help their sides achieve a strong start. In fact, WhoScored’s team of the season so far comprises men from many clubs.

All seven of the clubs included are lucky to have such talented assets. Without further ado, here are the 11 players in the Championship – with five starts or more – with the best average rating in their position.
