Birmingham City boast one of the most loyal fan bases in the Championship and it has now been proven.
Blues fans saw their team go from play-off hopefuls to a side relegated to League One, but despite what was a rollercoaster season, the fans have been there along the way come rain or shine.
It showed that Birmingham's largest following this season was 3,976 and their lowest being 800 which isn't bad at all. Birmingham fans travelled on average 113 miles with their location coming in handy when travelling the length and breadth of England, as well a two trips to Wales.
Birmingham won just three times on the road this season, picking up five draws and witnessing 15 defeats, giving them 14 points. Only Rotherham United who picked up four points from a possible 69 on their travels had a worse record. Had Birmingham managed to pick up maximum points against the Millers as well as Huddersfield Town then their final position might have been a slight bit different.
You don’t win points for having the best support, but it’s still nice to see how big your club is compared to the rest. Thanks to EFL fan website The 72 who for each week of the season have posted the followings of every club across the three divisions and collated them, they have now been able to produce a table on who boasts the best support in the division.
Here’s how Birmingham City compare to the likes of their relegation rivals Sheffield Wednesday as well as league champions Leicester City among the other 21 teams in the division.
