Birmingham City and Wolves are in the hat for the Round two draw of the Carabao Cup and will discover their opponents tonight.

Blues progressed to the next stage of the competition after beating Charlton Athletic 1-0 at The Valley on Wednesday night. Academy graduate Brandon Khela scored a stunning strike after Tyreece Campbell had missed a penalty and Dion Sanderson had been sent off.

Wolves because of their Premier League status, were afforded a bye to the next round. At this stage last season, they defeated Blackpool convincingly, but then lost to Ipswich Town after Gary O’Neil rang the changes.

The round two draw of the Carabao Cup will take place live on Sky Sports after Leeds United v Middlesbrough concludes on Wednesday, August 14.

What teams are involved and how does the draw work?

Premier League clubs not involved in Europe enter at this stage, as well as Burnley and Luton Town, who were afford byes to the next round. Sheffield United who finished bottom last season had to play, but thrashed Wrexham 4-1 to progress.

The first round was regionalised and that will continue in the second round, and with how the EFL have done regionalisation, Birmingham City and Wolves have been kept apart. Blues can face Bournemouth, Brentford, Brighton, Crystal Palace, Fulham, Ipswich Town, Southampton and West Ham from the Premier League.

Birmingham already know how it works but just as a reminder for Wolves if the matches finish level after 90 minutes, the game goes straight to penalties. All 50 teams in the draw have been given a ball number.
