George Hall could come back into contention for Birmingham City's trip to Bristol City this weekend.

The 19-year-old should be available to John Eustace this weekend, having missed the first three games of the season. Hall had an ankle injur during a disrupted pre-season and that ruled him out for the start of the season. He has trained with his teammates over the last week, and there is a strong desire for him to stay fit and healthy so he can contribute to the team.

Summer signing Tyler Roberts however is out for the next month after sustaining a calf injury in training. He played against Swansea City and got an hour under his belt, and to avoid any injury he didn't play in the Carabao Cup but in the build-up to facing his old club Leeds United, he suffered a new injury and will now be out for between three to four weeks.

Tyler's namesake Marc Roberts, has a similar injury and time frame of return, having suffered a calf injury. The 33-year-old is expected to return to action in the next fortnight, leaving Blues with not a lot of options in defence.

Marcel Oakley sustained a hamstring injury in the 2-0 win over Cheltenham Town and was brought off. He didn't feature in the squad against Leeds last Saturday, and is a doubt.

As for the hosts, they have a mix of long-term absentees as well as those who are doubts. Rob Atkinson suffered an ACL injury in February, and has only recently returned to the training pitches, and is expected to be out for at least another two months. The severity of last season's top scorer Tommy Conway is at least a 'couple of months' which is a major blow for the Scotland Under-21 international.

Summer signing Ross McCrorie has yet to play as he deals with an infection. No time frame has been put on when McCrorie might appear, in what has been a frustrating period for the ex-Aberdeen utility man. Former Aston Villa striker Andi Weimann meanwhile is a doubt as he deals with plantar fasciitis, which forced him off against Preston, and made him miss the 1-0 win over Millwall.

Ayman Benarous who missed the entire 2022/23 campaign after suffering a successive ACL injury is closing in on a return, but will continue to play for the Under-21's before making a return to first-team football. The Robins are considering loaning him out to build up his fitness.
