Clubs up and down the country have been rallying around Birmingham City boss Tony Mowbray after news the 60-year-old is temporarily stepping away from his St Andrew’s duties on health grounds.

It’s been revealed that Mowbray will require medical treatment for an unnamed illness following a recent LMA health assessment. He is expected to be absent for around 6-8 weeks, with assistant manager Mark Venus assuming caretaker duties.

The former Sunderland and Blackburn manager was only named Birmingham boss on January 8, following Blues’ decision to part company with Wayne Rooney in December. The club were 19th in the table and with just one win in 10 Championship appearances when his appointment was revealed. At present, Birmingham are 15th, with Mowbray winning four of his eight games in charge – including Saturday’s 2-1 win against Sunderland.

The ex-Middlesbrough, Cetlic and Ipswich defender was in the dugout for that win at St Andrew’s. But with Mowbray now likely to miss up to 11 games while he receives treatment, clubs have been taking to X, formerly Twitter, to pass on their best wishes.

Here’s some of the clubs who have been quick to wish the 60-year-old a speedy recovery, including former club Ipswich, who welcome Birmingham to Portman Road on Saturday.
