With the January transfer window now beyond its midpoint, Birmingham City and West Bromwich Albion are both working hard to bring in new faces to their respective squads - but who are they looking at?

The Blues have been linked with a move for a Sunderland star, as they look to end their miserable run of form - meanwhile, cash-strapped West Brom are seeking out a deal for a Newcastle United player who has become a forgotten man at St. James' Park over the last couple of seasons.

The 2023/24 season has not been a fruitful one for the Blues. They currently sit 20th in the Championship table without a win in their last six league games - but they could improve their squad in a major way by bringing Sunderland's Alex Pritchard to St. Andrew's in the January transfer window.

This comes from the Sunderland Echo, who mention that the Black Cats could cash in on the former Huddersfield Town man, as his current deal is set to expire in the summer. Birmingham aren't the only interested party in the equation - Pritchard has also been linked with Sivasspor and Colorado Rapids.

West Brom looking at Newcastle United's Isaac Hayden

Isaac Hayden's playing time at Newcastle United has become increasingly limited since the 2021 takeover. He is currently on loan at Standard Liege, but this could be cut short if he can complete a transfer to West Brom in the next couple of weeks.

This is again according to the Sunderland Echo, who mention that he is 'expected' to join a club in the Championship during the ongoing January transfer window. The Baggies aren't the only club in the race, however, as Middlesbrough, Sheffield Wednesday, Millwall and QPR are all thought to be interested as well.
