Birmingham City will play in League One next season after finishing third from bottom in the Championship

Birmingham City fans on social media have been reacting to Blues’ relegation to League One.

A 1-0 victory on the final day of the Championship season against Norwich wasn’t enough to save the St Andrew’s side from the drop, with Gary Rowett’s side finishing third from bottom and a point adrift of Plymouth, who enjoyed a 1-0 win against Hull.

Here’s how fans have reacted following the final whistle...

@YouBearsssssss: Gutted!!! Cant believe we Won and All the others did. Them players let US down over the season our Away form was a disgrace. BEST owners we could have wished for and of course we go down. Typical Blues!! We will be back! One Tom Wagner #BCFC.

@ThomasSpurgeon9: Have to say I don’t feel as bad as I thought I would. Absolutely sick of these players and staying up would risk them being here again next season. 15 out in the summer means 15 in and hopefully a new era under these owners and build properly for the future.

@BNWLKNS: On the plus side, I never ever have to watch Hogan, Roberts, Burke or Sunjic kick a football in a Blues shirt ever again.

@gcooper100: No complaints. We didn’t do enough over the season especially away from home and got what we deserved. Some bad decisions and some bad luck with TM didn’t help but we can’t point fingers elsewhere. I’ll be back in my usual seat next season. Football eh, bloody hell #BCFC.

@lou1875: Gutting but expected. They did what they needed today but it was too late. Could have predicted everyone around us would win too. Unfortunately the table doesn’t lie but we will be back bigger and stronger. Blues are for life.

@AsgardRoot: Rooney was our Brexit. Misplaced hubris and pure self-sabotage. Knighthead gotta do some serious grafting to convince fans for next season. Need dirt cheap season tickets and £20+million spent on the squad.

@LiamCCave: Players did their job on the last day. It's a shame Rowett's tactics had put us in that position.

@Rechru795: Rooney was sacked, but Cook is the one responsible for appointing him. The terrible decision to appoint Rooney has relegated the club. Cook should resign immediately and he will never win over the Blues fans now. Even the previous owners didn’t get us relegated.

@Rich_BCFC: We deserved it, never been good enough this season players need to take a long hard look at themselves.

@DaveHulin13: Simply clear the decks totally. Don't want to see any of them in a Blues shirt next season.

@StephenFFXIV: The Birmingham board deserved it for their stupid decision, losing Eustace would come back to haunt them. Explain it again why it was a *Smart* move...?

@Tommy_Kelsall: Did all we could today but it was all too late. Wouldn’t have believed it was this season we’d go down but if you don’t win your games, proof is in the pudding. Going to go look out a window with a few beers for a few hours now. Sad day…
