Blues are reportedly weighing up an approach to re-sign academy product Nathan Redmond, bringing the 30-year-old back over a decade on from his departure.
Redmond is yet to make an appearance in the Championship this season for current club Burnley and he’s been tipped for a move away this January. Having accumulated just 299 minutes across all competitions as a Claret since signing at the start of the 2023/24 campaign, the move to Turf Moor is proving to be a disaster.

Hide AdBirmingham could put an end to that nightmare, though, with journalist Alan Nixon reporting via his Patreon page that Blues are interested in signing Redmond on loan. With the winger’s Burnley contract expiring in June anyway, it would effectively be a six-month trial period for both Blues and the player.
Redmond, who started his career at Birmingham at just eight years of age, racked up 82 competitive appearances for the club, contributing nine goals and 11 assists. He left for Norwich City in 2013, where he went on to notch 13 goals and 20 assists in 123 games.
From there, Redmond joined Southampton for a fee of around £11million and thus began the most successful spell of his career. One time an England international, Redmond played six full seasons with the Saints, playing 232 times, scoring 30 goals and making 27 assists.
An ambitious move to the Turkish Super Lig followed as Redmond featured 28 times for Besiktas, scoring six and assisting six. That venture only lasted a season before Redmond joined Burnley, where he’s currently struggling to break back into the team following long-term knee and hamstring injuries.
